Direct, authoritative answers regarding environmental hazards, state testing regulations, and field deployment procedures.

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings, especially relating to occupant respiratory health, comfort, and productivity. Poor IAQ can cause acute symptoms including headaches, fatigue, eye irritation, and chronic conditions like asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and severe allergic reactions.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are chemical gases emitted by paints, adhesives, new building materials, cleaning solvents, and furnishings. High concentrations of VOCs cause short-term irritation and dizziness, while chronic exposure to compounds like formaldehyde and benzene presents serious long-term neurological and carcinogenic risks.

Common indicators include persistent earthy or musty odors (caused by Microbial Volatile Organic Compounds), visible surface discoloration (black, green, white, or orange spotting), water staining on drywall or ceilings, and unexplained respiratory reactions when entering the property.
